Triplon current generation in solids

چکیده

A triplon refers to a fictitious particle that carries angular momentum $S = 1$ corresponding the elementary excitation in broad class of quantum dimerized spin systems. Such systems without magnetic order have long been studied as testing ground for properties spins. Although triplons found play central role thermal and magnets with singlet correlation, flow carried by triplons, current, has not detected yet. Here we report Seebeck effects induced current: effect, using spin-Peierls system CuGeO$_3$. The result shows heating-driven transport induces current whose sign is positive, opposite spin-wave cases magnets. effect persists far below transition temperature, being consistent theoretical calculation effects.

Modelling harmonic generation measurements in solids.

Harmonic generation measurements typically make use of the plane wave result when extracting values for the nonlinearity parameter, β, from experimental measurements. This approach, however, ignores the effects of diffraction, attenuation, and receiver integration which are common features in a typical experiment. Our aim is to determine the importance of these effects when making measurements ...

The Generation of High Pressures in Solids

1. PRELIMINARY EXPERIMENTS WITH A FAST Z-PINCH CAPACITOR DISCHARGE: THE GENERATION OF HIGH PRESSURES IN SOLIDS Preliminary experiments are being carried out to study the application of a fast capacitor Z-pinch discharge to the generation of high magnetic fields, dense vaporized metal plasmas, and high pressures. These experiments bear on aspects of the relatively well-known exploding wire techn...

Nonlinear alternating current responses of electrorheological solids.

When a composite containing nonlinear dielectric particles suspended in a host medium is subjected to a sinusoidal alternating current (ac) electric field, the dielectric response of the composite will generally consist of ac fields at frequencies of higher order harmonics. For an electrorheological (ER) solid under structure transformations due to external fields, we apply the Ewald-Kornfeld f...

Current-induced stabilization of surface morphology in stressed solids.

We examine the surface morphological evolution of a conducting crystalline solid under the simultaneous action of an electric field and mechanical stress based on a fully nonlinear model and combining linear stability theory with self-consistent dynamical simulations. We demonstrate that electric current, through surface electromigration, can stabilize the surface morphology of the stressed sol...

Heat Transfer in Composite Solids with Heat Generation

Steady-state heat transfer problems have been considered in a composite solid comprising two materials, one, a slab, which forms the bulk of the interior and the other, a plate, which forms a thin layer around the boundary. Through the use of appropriate Green's functions, it is shown that the boundary value problem can be converted into a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. The inte...
